Empowering Mexico's communities to lead the way in public transport planning, the TranSIT project is making urban mobility more sustainable, with the support of HOT, Codeando México, and GIZ.

Communities in Oaxaca, Toluca, and Salina Cruz are documenting transport routes using open-source tools. This data will improve planning for more equitable, accessible, and sustainable transport networks that reflect local needs.

With a focus on collaboration, the project brings together governments, civil society, and students to map public transport networks and improve urban mobility planning, ensuring more inclusive and sustainable transport solutions in Mexico.

Great video by @notjustbikes@notjustbikes.com @notjustbikes@feddit.nl about what's really behind Doug Ford's bike lane ban in Toronto.

It's basically a fartlighting distraction.

tl;dw they made some sensible cost cutting measures to create a nice tram system cheaply in a small city.

tldw Hamburg wanted to build an urban highway network, but it wasn't complete and they built some nice things in the space left over.

Hey fedi-bikers!

I need help finding good hydraulic disc brakes with flat-mount calipers for my Specialized Sirrus 3.0.

It came with Tektro HD-R280 front- and rear flat-mount calipers, but I'm not quite satisfied with the stopping efficiency. I'm used to a lot more from years of riding my previous MTB which featured Shimano post-mount calipers.

The guy at the local bike shop explained to me that the factory Tektros were actually quite mediocre calipers, so I weren't to expect anything near to approximating the stopping power of my MTB's Shimanos.

So far I've identified these flat-mount Shimano models:

  • Shimano SLX BR-M7110
  • Shimano XT BR-M8110
  • Shimano XTR BR-M9110

... but most sites that have them in stock offer just the calipers, and I need the whole front-, or rear- or both sets, including calipers, pads, levers, hoses, adapters (if needed), because if I purchased just the calipers, they most probably wouldn't be compatible with what came with the factory equipped Sirrus 3.0.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions, and links to online shops (Europe-shipping preferably) where I can order the whole set from.

Thanks!

More and more people are using this form of travel to get around the continent, using high-speed routes and a network of night trains that continues to expand. We traveled from Madrid to Prague and witnessed how the future of European transportation is clean and fast

An attempt to recreate the /r/NotJustBikes community on Lemmy. I'm just reserving the Community Name, other folks (for instance the /r/NotJustBikes mods?) are welcome to take over.

NOTE: This sublemmy (?) is in no way related to or affiliated with NotJustBikes, Jason Slaughter, etc.

#RULES

1. Be nice. Please.

I know it's the internet, but be nice. And report trolls & spammers.

2. No memes

No memes, image macros, or low-effort posts. These are easily upvoted, but they pollute the subreddit very quickly.

POSTING MEMES WILL RESULT IN A TEMPORARY BAN.

3. Stay on topic

Try to stick to posts and comments related to the themes of NJB videos, or content creation. Things like urban planning, mobility & transportation, social equity, Dutch culture, etc..

4. No Trolling

Go troll somewhere else. We don't need that shit here.

5. No comment screenshots

Please don't post screenshots of stupid comments as a post. We all know there are ignorant morons online, we don't need to bring even more attention to their stupid comments.

6. No vehicular cycling

I have no patience for advocates of vehicular cycling. You can talk about vehicular cycling, but if you promote it as an alternative to safe bike infrastructure, I will ban you. You can post that crap somewhere else.

7. No people being hit by cars/road violence

Do not show videos or pictures of people being hit by cars, or other road violence. We don't need to see that shit. We know cars are dangerous, and many people have bad memories of car crashes. Keep it out of this subreddit.

8. No tone policing

We don't need any more tone police. If you don't like the tone that Not Just Bike takes in his videos, there's a very easy solution: stop watching them.

9. No internet drama

Don't spread or promote drama over what has happened on the Internet. You're spending too much time online: go touch grass.
