An interactive Read-Eval-Print-Loop? Check.
Functional if, case, and loops / list comprehendions? Check.

A numeric tower with rational numbers ? Check.

I'll just stick to C
What kind of programs do you, or would you, write in C? For most programs, writing in C would leave you, as you put it, stuck.
