Learn to farm. Buy a gun. Take classes on emergency first aid. Get to know your neighbors. Start organizing.

Wait. Are liberals the new republicans?

[-] surph_ninja@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Liberals are just Republicans who support gay marriage.

I've been radicalized decades ago since I was a teenager. I don't need more evidence, I'm exhausted, I don't even feel like fighting. Not when the people don't deserve our sacrifice. Let's focus on protecting ourselves, if a critical mass begins to wake up then we can start to move in the direction of resistance.

Waiting for the revolution to "just happen" is the best way for it not to happen at all.

Communes, mutual aid, Unions, cooperatives... And yeah, violence too, only if its necessary.

[-] NONE_dc@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

You don't need me to tell you. You think is necessary?

[-] meep_launcher@lemm.ee 1 points 1 week ago

What constitutes necessary? I guess that's the crux of the question here and why it's difficult to pin down when people think violence is acceptable.

[-] queermunist@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago

Yeah dude, why don't people talk about the laws they're going to break on an open internet forum?

[-] NONE_dc@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I think that that ambiguity is good. It call to reflect rather than just obey and do whatever everyone says is acceptable.

[-] MataVatnik@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

You still need a critical mass of followers with the right sentiment. The ground needs to be fertile. It's just not there right now, and those that were radicalized in the last 10 years, they radicalized on the side of fascism. Sacrificing yourself for acts of resistance right now would be purely a symbolic gesture, you'll be left hung out to dry. Just give it time. But if you want to pull a Luigi I'll be the last one to stop you.

It's about time they realized foreign interference doesn't feel good on the other side unless they're the one doing it.

[-] MataVatnik@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Yeah, having dealt with it in Argentina I had an anti imperialist sentiment against the US when I first moved here as a teenager. I always thought the US deserves to be interfered with the same way they did to so many countries in the world. I eventually grew out of it after this place became my home and am very distressed to see what is happening now. However, I know that 15 year old me would be fucking ecstatic at Russia successfully helping tear this country apart. That's what these MAGA cult worshippers don't understand, people that hate the US are very happy to see what is happening now

PS: Happy cake day friend

Skeletor for president!

Im quite enjoying rednote, which I joined up just for to be a spectator to all the TikTok people moving over. What I didn't expect was to see how well the average Chinese lives, and in contrast just how poorly we live despite also having a wealthy government.

If anything has pushed me further left, it's that

[-] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

You know how people always warn not to take others' social media posts as reality? That social media posts only tend to highlight the positives and peaks of people's lives and rarely show their struggles or the harsh reality?

Don't you think that maybe applies here?

[-] Shortstack@reddthat.com 6 points 1 week ago

Idk man, me being impressed that these folks are able to afford groceries is pretty basic.

In the context of just what’s happening in the past day and even the post we’re discussing this in, I don’t think it’s taking it too far to see that china is doing better for their citizens in some ways than we are. In basic bitch ways like affordable housing or public transportation

[-] kaprap@leminal.space 4 points 1 week ago

I've been radicalised by hexbear

[-] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago

Don’t give them power over you.

[-] Drusas@fedia.io 4 points 1 week ago

Oh, it can do both.

Lefty Memes

4734 readers
570 users here now

An international (English speaking) socialist Lemmy community free of the "ML" influence of instances like lemmy.ml and lemmygrad. This is a place for undogmatic shitposting and memes from a progressive, anti-capitalist and truly anti-imperialist perspective, regardless of specific ideology.

Serious posts, news, and discussion go in c/Socialism.

If you are new to socialism, you can ask questions and find resources over on c/Socialism101.

Please don't forget to help keep this community clean by reporting rule violations, updooting good contributions and downdooting those of low-quality!

Rules

Version without spoilers

0. Only post socialist memes

That refers to funny image macros and means that generally videos and screenshots are not allowed. Exceptions include explicitly humorous and short videos, as well as (social media) screenshots depicting a funny situation, joke, or joke picture relating to socialist movements, theory, societal issues, or political opponents. Examples would be the classic case of humorous Tumblr or Twitter posts/threads. (and no, agitprop text does not count as a meme)

1. Socialist Unity in the form of mutual respect and good faith interactions is enforced here

Try to keep an open mind, other schools of thought may offer points of view and analyses you haven't considered yet. Also: This is not a place for the Idealism vs. Materialism or rather Anarchism vs. Marxism debate(s), for that please visit c/AnarchismVsMarxism.

2. Anti-Imperialism means recognizing capitalist states like Russia and China as such

That means condemning (their) imperialism, even if it is of the "anti-USA" flavor.

3. No liberalism, (right-wing) revisionism or reactionaries.

That includes so called: Social Democracy, Democratic Socialism, Dengism, Market Socialism, Patriotic Socialism, National Bolshevism, Anarcho-Capitalism etc. . Anti-Socialist people and content have no place here, as well as the variety of "Marxist"-"Leninists" seen on lemmygrad and more specifically GenZedong (actual ML's are welcome as long as they agree to the rules and don't just copy paste/larp about stuff from a hundred years ago).

4. No Bigotry.

The only dangerous minority is the rich.

5. Don't demonize previous and current socialist experiments or (leading) individuals.

We must constructively learn from their mistakes, while acknowledging their achievements and recognizing when they have strayed away from socialist principles.

(if you are reading the rules to apply for modding this community, mention "Mantic Minotaur" when answering question 2)

6. Don't idolize/glorify previous and current socialist experiments or (leading) individuals.

Notable achievements in all spheres of society were made by various socialist/people's/democratic republics around the world. Mistakes, however, were made as well: bureaucratic castes of parasitic elites - as well as reactionary cults of personality - were established, many things were mismanaged and prejudice and bigotry sometimes replaced internationalism and progressiveness.
