It is not illegal to send money by mail and there are legitimate reasons to do so. This is a blatant money grab by a corrupt government.

People really want to believe that her plan is terrible and would make regular people like them suffer more and pay more and it would destroy the middle class and aren’t we suffering enough! When it’s clearly only increased taxes for the very wealthy. It’s like their bias against democrats takes away reading comprehension.

Farmed honey bees can actually harm local pollinators through competing for resources.

It’s a U.S. thing! Yay! You can buy insurance for it if you do a lot of backpacking but that’s rare. I believe it’s in the five figures for a rescue. But apparently occasionally it can be free if you’re lucky enough to get rescued by the one agency whose name I forget.

I don’t know how much credit can go to Pelosi specifically but the current indictment is absolutely due to the fact-finding of the congressional Jan 6 committee. If Liz Cheney and others on that committee had not done the work they did, there would not the current court cases. Jack Smith’s evidence is based on the evidence found during the committee hearings.

I like to imagine you huddled over an ice field, stirring water in a pot until it turns to the perfect slushy consistency for your fresh homemade ice.

I never see this mentioned but Darknet Diaries is actually a really informative and entertaining podcast about hacking, the dark web, physical penetration testing (gone wrong), nation-state cyber attacks.

According to some module I had to take yesterday, 18-44 is “young adult” and 45 to something is “middle aged.”

I love Xolos. I feel like they strike the perfect balance of cute and intimidating for walking alone at night. They sometimes win the World’s Ugliest Dog contest but, like this year, are often beat by the Chinese crested dog

I do find cooking easier in grams. Just put the bowl on the scale and add ingredients until it hits the number. No measuring cups to wash. But it would life changing if woodworking switched to metric. Doing any sort of exact math is annoying as hell. What is 12’7” divided by 4? How many 1/8” is 0.55 inches?? It is my own personal hell.

I find it HIGHLY ironic that conservatives are anti-single payer because they “don’t want the government to say if they can have a procedure.” Instead they apparently prefer our current system of a for-profit company saying what medical procedures they can have. Health insurance overrides doctor decisions ALL THE TIME because approving procedures costs them money. Good doctors know the best ways to fudge the order to get things approved because that’s the only way to actually help their patients.

Based on the article from [https://lemmy.ca/post/2016593](this post), apparently Idaho was the first state to pass a law allowing a rolling stop for bicycles. As one of the least progressive states in most issues, I am pleasantly surprised at their being first at passing a pro-cycling law and forty years later there are still only ten other states that have followed their lead. Good job little Idaho.
