Reading the comments, it really does feel that most tankies are demagogues and roleplayers.

[-] Skiluros@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

As if the Diva person knows Chinese or has ever lived there (or even visited).

If it was russia or China starving people in Gaza, tankie roach would claim that "genocide isn't happening", "the BIA is seeding fake reports about starvation!" and "this is the best deradicalization program in history!".

What a bunch of lying, disgusting degenerates.

Where do you see Felix (or the poster you refer to) claim that all Jews are responsible for the actions of Israel?

I think you dug yourself in a hole with a reflexive, uncritical accusation of anti-Semitism.

Although to be fair that seems to the primarily MO of a large portion of individuals/institutions that bring up anti-Semitism.

[-] Skiluros@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

Yes, the "boy who cried wolf" idiom comes to mind.

I can understand the German media (histrocial factora) and the US media (corruption with respect to Israeli interests), but why are media resources are so uncritical about alleged claims of anti-Semitism?

[-] Skiluros@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Sure, I addressed that, although maybe I wasn't clear. The point about wanting to remove diplomatic recognition of Israel is just an example.

In other ethnic/cultural groups, it is possible to be ashamed of a big element of your group that happens to be systematically evil. This is not discrimination or prejudice.

I really do think anti-Semitism is starting to lose its meaning.

[-] Skiluros@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

The title and framing is misleading.

There are other comparable examples with indirect cultural (even ethnic) links where no one in their right mind would call it anti-[ethnicity/relation/culture/social group].

Honestly, anti-semintism is way over used. There is of course real anti-semitism, but these days it is increasingly becoming a polemical device to try and shut down legitimate criticism and actions.

If you want your country to drop diplomatic recognition of Israel, is that anti-Semitism?

I would argue it is not anti-Semitism. If you have any connection (ethnic links, multi year exposure) to a country that has suffered from colonialism, you will have a different perspective.

Opposition to "British Burma" is not discrimination or hatred of UK. It's wanting to manage your own country.

Not a very good post on my part, I must admit.

That being said I am Ukrainian (from Lugansk no less). I very much believe what I said and I do hope one day the tankies (and Dessalines specifically) meet the same fate as what they wish on me, my family and my fellow citizens.

This was motivated by their celebration of the occupation of Lugansk.

I hate their guts (and the russians too of course; I am not a believer in russian victimhood narratives, a wealth of research shows that an overwhelming majority support genocidal imperialism). Disgusting scum stuffing their mouths with American fast food, while cheering for russian genocidal imperialism.

Apologies in advance.

I hate the CCP, with the number one reason being that they support the russians (I am Ukrainian).

That being said I also oppose their imperialism, authoritarianism and social conservatism.

But I find myself considering whether China is perhaps (as a matter of a lack of choices) a better option than the US. It genuinely pains me to say this.

I empathize with the population of Taiwan. I remember Jan 2022 and Dec 2021 when everyone in Ukraine was contemplating the potential (for that time) for a full scale russian invasion. And then the full scale invasion happened in late Feb 2022.

But the Americans leave me no option. One third of their population are deeply corrupt and dishonest, they are proto-fascist, if not outright fascist. On some level it is worth considering whether they are a "lost cause". Another third might not be openly fascist, but they will support any evil (if it doesn't immediately impact them directly) for a discount coupon at the local McDonalds. They are the textbook definition of nihilists.

And then you have the final third part of the population. They know something is wrong, but they are too conformist and lack the risk tolerance to make a move. For better or for worse they are too well off (in the global sense) to be willing to take risks. American fascists will take them down one by one, until there is no leadership left.

The moves offer a new challenge to the Trump administration, which had previously cited lowering Treasury yields as a key policy aim, and could mark a loss of investor confidence in the world’s largest sovereign debt market.

“The sell-off may be signalling a regime shift whereby US Treasuries are no longer the global fixed-income safe haven,” said Ben Wiltshire, a rates strategist at Citi.

This is potentially a seismic shift in global finance/economics.

If US treasuries are no longer considered the "investment of last resort" (which they shouldn't be, since even sane Americans lack the commitment and risk tolerance to fight corruption and degeneracy in their own country), this may result in the dollar losing its status as the global reserve currency.

If that happens, the Americans will be fucked.

Thank you to Howard G. Buffett!

I am glad that Howard Buffett has a sober understanding of how the russians operate. They will not engage in good faith unless you demonstrate that you are able and willing to fuck them up.

No, bourbon and food is small fry.

Internet services headquartered in the US. That's the real deal.

Require a $100/per computer/per year on-going tax (phased in very slowly over 36 months, with extremely slow ramp in the first 18 months) for every enterprise Windows installation. Then figure out a similar approach for cloud computing and mobile enterprise (targeting Android/iOS). That's how you grab the Americans by the balls.

"Fascism, that's not a word that regular people, you know, use, you know?" Fetterman said

A fascinating perspective.

The insurgents claimed on their Military Operations Department channel on the Telegram app Thursday that they have entered Hama and are marching toward its center.

“Our forces are taking positions inside the city of Hama,” the channel quoted a local commander identified as Maj. Hassan Abdul-Ghani as saying.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition war monitor, said gunmen have entered parts of the city, mainly the neighborhoods of Sawaaeq and Zahiriyeh to the northwest. It added that gunmen are also on the edge of the northwestern neighborhood of Kazo.

“If Hama falls, it means that the beginning of the regime’s fall has started,” the Observatory’s chief, Rami Abdurrahman, told The Associated Press.

Hama is a major intersection point in Syria that links that country’s center with the north as well the east and the west. It is about 200 kilometers (125 miles) north of the capital, Damascus, Assad’s seat of power. Hama province also borders the coastal province of Latakia, a main base of popular support for Assad.
