If approved, municipalities would be required to post more warning signage for ASE and red-light cameras. Officials said cities and towns would require public disclosure on camera locations “to improve transparency.”

Maddening. If motorists are following traffic laws, what difference would this make, because it sure as shit isn't about “transparency”?

This only benefits those who chose to break the law, and telling them where they can or won't be caught breaking the law does nothing for public safety.

"slow down for 30 seconds, there's a camera here! Go as fast as you want after this block."

– new speed camera signage

When a cop does traffic radar, they don't need to put a sign out saying they are doing so, why do these cameras need one? The speed limit is the limit regardless of if a cop or camera is around. Just the speed limit sign alone is enough signage.

If it was up to me, there would be no signage at all (about the cameras/other than the posted limit) and the cameras would all be invisible, disguised as or hidden inside some other equipment. Don't like fines? Try not breaking the law.

And of course we should also implement day fines (that scale with the offender's income) so everyone who speeds is equally deterred.
