Only one cat? That's not much of a collection.

Hopefully the cat deficit will be resolved soon. I suspect he's going to be extremely jealous however.

Kalax from IKEA is a great solution for your vinyl too...just don't go more than two high.

I need an excuse to get a table saw and some plywood. I've got something specific in mind and I haven't been able to do woodworking in ages! I want to have at least one wall, preferably two, all shelving for vinyl and books.

Learn from my mistake and make sure that the wall and footing is reinforced before you build a full wall bookshelf for something as heavy as vinyl.

Good advice. Thanks, will do.

Nothing too crazy. I think I just went looking for it at the right time. Always wanted a copy. Saw it for sale online and bought it.

Lots of records! How do you listen? Like once and done ?

[-] Olhonestjim@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I don't have a method. When I have time, I guess? I'll definitely play a record more than once. I don't seek out rare mints to never spin. I've got a few in poor shape, but they play. Been collecting since I was a little kid. I just finished living on the road for like 15 years. I'd bounce around the country, collect, listen, fill a couple boxes, then drop them off at a trusted friend's house for storage, then repeat. I didn't realize I had this many til I got them all in one place finally.

As my player has USB, I'd like to start doing digital backups while I listen. There is some oddball stuff in here that is worth the trouble. There's also some dreck in here that isn't. I have a small collection of those old gospel records with the creepy, cultish-looking families on the cover, just because I think they're hilarious.

That Voyager Golden Record is so cool.

I just looked it up. Geez, that's selling much higher now. I bought it new for like $99. Wish I'd put it in a sleeve immediately.

Now I'm totes envious....I'd love my vinyl on a permanent wall

[-] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Are all of your walls temporary?

[-] teamevil@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Rental...so not digging in
