Had to ask seeing as there doesn't seem to be a community around it on Lemmy.

It's a kinda loose "genre", of course, but one of my favourites. When speculative fiction gets freaky it really does it for me. New weird, as they call it, especially.

Anyone who has no idea what I'm on about, take a look. I hope you enjoy.

I really enjoyed the video game Control and analogue horror, so if those count then yes.

I didn't think I was much of a fan but then I checked the page to find apparently Morrowind and Pan's Labyrinth (still need to get round to Disco Elysium) count for New Weird? Two of my favourite things.

As for books, I got halfway through City of Saints and Madmen a few years back and I was enjoying it but the pace of the painter story really made me lose interest. Still planning to go back and finish it someday.

Not sure how Morrowind is new weird. Is it not just alien fantasy? Sure most fantasy is meieval european based but those that aren't doesnt automatiically make them "new weird".
