About a year ago, I heard someone mention that Outer Wilds had a VR mod. I do have a VR setup and am an experienced VR player, so I really could experience this game for the first time in VR.

Is that reasonable or should I play it the first time with flat graphics?

I don't know about VR, but please note it is not really replayable. A second playthrough is possible, but will amount to a trip down memory lane at best.

No, unless you already know how to pilot the ship, playing in VR is probably going to get you severely motion sick

OP said they are an experienced VR player, they probably have good motion sickness resistance.

Funnily enough piloting the ship is probably mostly fine, because you have the cockpit as anchor point and also you are mostly in space without a lot of close reference points to upset your stomach.

I have only played the game in VR and loved it. The mod worked great for me a year or two ago so unless a patch went through it still should. Since you’re an experienced VR player I don’t think you’ll have too much issue with motion sickness. That being said it takes a lot to make me nauseous, so your results may vary. I think it’s an amazing way to get drawn into the world.

Whatever you do, please record it so the rest of us can live vicariously through you.

I played it first in VR and I had a great experience. So I say go for it. Experiencing certain moments and views for the first time in VR is great. And just floating in space is also wonderful.

You might as well try it and see how it goes.
