Alberta has now confirmed more measles cases than the entire United States has reported this year.

The province has been battling outbreaks since March and as of noon Monday, total case counts in the province had ballooned to 1,314. The latest update from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that country has amassed 1,288 cases this year.

It is widely believed by experts and health officials that Alberta's case counts are higher than the confirmed numbers reflect. A standing exposure advisory remains in effect for the entire south zone and parts of the north due to widespread transmission.

Alberta is like all the worst states rolled into one.

Oh come on. We'd eat Mississippi's lunch any day.

Alberta is the most conservative and most religious province in Canada. The Prime Minister of Alberta is a woman named Danielle Smith.

This is what she said two years ago:

Alberta is very rich because they have a ton of oil. But it's really badly managed.

Norway has a lot of oil, but Norwegians have an investment fund to help future generations. Norwegians have strong labor rights. They are very environmentally conscious. They try to reduce plastics, they travel by bicycle, they use electric cars.

Alberta is the exact opposite. The big oil companies are privately owned. Local politicians oppose measures to reduce plastics pollution:

Alberta politicians also blame a lot of their local problems on Canada.

It's just sad.

It should be Alberta’s tag line. It tracks. Pretty accurately.

Is the US still collecting that data

[-] _cnt0@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

Does the US still have a working reporting system?

Don't know, the weekly reporting system reports stopped coming months ago. I thought it was just me switching to New Outlook but I guess it's everyone?

I wouldn’t trust anything we reported at the moment.
