On Sunday, Israel officially declared war on Hamas militants in Gaza—one day after a surprise attack that killed hundreds. Though the political unrest between Israel and Palestine has been going on for more than half a century, making it one history’s longest ongoing political conflicts, an astounded Jimmy Kimmel reflected how Donald Trump is absolutely convinced none of this would be happening if he and his Diet Coke button were still occupying the Oval Office.

Describing the situation in Israel as a “nightmare” on Monday, Kimmel noted that: “Leaders from all around the world condemned the attack, as did millions of Americans—including our super-duper, pro-Israel former president Donald Trump. Who immediately found a way to make it about himself.”

Trump took to social media on Sunday when, in ALL-CAPS, the former president claimed that “THE HORRIBLE ATTACK ON ISRAEL, MUCH LIKE THE ATTACK ON UKRAINE, WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED IF I WERE PRESIDENT — ZERO CHANCE!”

It might be about Trump.

Saw an article yesterday linking classified leaks to Hamas attacks. Trump to Russia to Iran to Hamas.

Probably also Trump to Saudi Arabia to Iran (they're allies now, apparently 🤷) and just Trump to Iran

Did Trump give Russia or sell to another party the USA's invasion scenario plans for Israel?

[-] tsonfeir@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

The thought is that he gave someone something and that this happened. Specifically who and what at this point has not been made clear.

It probably won't be identified anytime soon because these things are probably Top Secret and the DoD most definitely has standing to keep that stuff out of the public eye.

I kind of expect Trump to slip up and tell everyone exactly what he shared.

Honestly that's more likely.

Trump is great at saying he would have magically stopped things from happening.

When he was in office, though, he wasn't capable of this. He couldn't even say what his "magical would fix everything" health care plan was.

Trump is all talk. It's easy to say you can fix everything. "I could walk in there tomorrow and get the Israelis and the Palestinians to sing kumbaya together. All I'd need is a ball of twine, two rubber bands, and a paperclip!" See? Easy to say it - especially when you give no details. But stick Trump in that situation and he'd flounder. (To be fair, I'd flounder also, but I'm not seriously claiming that I could fix that situation.)

Trump tried to make everything about him.

Good for Kimmel. It is not about Trump.

[-] muertinez@lemm.ee 9 points 1 year ago

damn too bad he didn’t slam him

[-] alienanimals@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Attention whores trying to make something all about them. I hate how idiots think this shit is news.

[-] TheSealStartedIt@feddit.de 4 points 1 year ago

And here we are, talking about him... Why are people upvoting these posts?

[-] Fades@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Fuck trump, he’s so giddy to push his antisemitism.

Now with that out of the way, who gives a fuck what Kimmel has to say??

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I never used to like Kimmel. I didn't like him much on Win Ben Stein's Money and I thought everything about The Man Show was unfunny, so I never watched him once he got a talk show, but I've been watching clips lately and the way he digs into trump is pretty amazing. And very funny.

But I'll still never watch Fallon. He definitely isn't funny. Reading the news slowly while slow music plays? That's a joke?

Also, after the shit with Horatio Sanz, and knowing Fallon was like his bff and they probably did all that shit together (but Fallon is way too valuable to NBC so Sanz took the fall), he started to creep me out. I can't see him now without thinking about that and it gives me the creeps.

[-] dingleberry@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 year ago

I've seen what Jimmy Kimmel likes, he is no one to talk.

[-] JustZ@lemmy.world -3 points 1 year ago

Kimmel is a sleeper.

I will say, I find him to be very funny, just, as a comedian, going back to Win Ben Stein's Money, the Man Show, and Crank Yankers.

He'll be going along being funny and then suddenly get deadly serious, but still funny. Like mixed in with his light insult comedy is some serious insults, very offensive to the person to whom they're directed.
