also, please don't eat them. otherwise you're really undoing all that kindness and then some.

Which is another reason I like the latest Superman movie, its squirrel scene

Loved the overall message.

Kindness is punk rock

It really sucks being that person, though. The heart can only handle so much. Recently had a litter of kittens get abandoned near my house, and only one of them survived. It hurt so bad to watch the others struggle but ultimately not make it in the end.

Cat tax

And make sure you go all the way and go vegan. Otherwise it's just hypocritical.

I will never stop caring for the animals around me where I can. I owe them a debt I can never repay. People, though...

Yes, feed those stray dogs, make them feel like owners of the place. They will tear a kid here and there. Nice. Witchy.

[-] Cevilia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 4 months ago

This. Stray dogs have every bit as much right to be there as random humans. They probably treat the place better than the average human, too.

Stray dogs have every bit as much right to be there as random humans.

They don't, actually, in most cases. Especially in the cities. They contribute nothing good to the cities. Just shit, noise and danger.

[-] Cevilia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 0 points 4 months ago

And what gave humans the right to put those cities there?

[-] Lembot_0004@discuss.online -2 points 4 months ago

Ability? We do things that increase our comfort because we can. But you can live in the forest. I don't object.

Learn some logic. And empathy, while you're at it...

[-] Lembot_0004@discuss.online -2 points 4 months ago

I am an engineer. I can use logic. And I know when empathy should be used. And to what extent. And when it shouldn't at all.

[-] raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

No one cares about your profession, nor does being capable of thinking logically magically get bestowed upon you, as you have demonstrated above. This is not about one-upping you, I genuinely believe you are empathetically disabled, based on your comments. So seek help, maybe?

[-] Lembot_0004@discuss.online -2 points 4 months ago

It is you who needs help. Being emphatic towards vermin isn't the best behaviour.

I can use logic. And I know when empathy should be used. And to what extent. And when it shouldn’t at all.

I'm suspecting that you're masking the usual dog hate as unusual rationality to legitimize it. don't want to presume, so let me ask you straight: How do you feel about traffic in residential areas? Just to make sure that you actually do allocate your attention to problems rationally, based eg on their severity.

spoilerThere's also the mystery of how either of us, engineers that use logic, ended up in the "Witchy Memes" sub.

[-] Lembot_0004@discuss.online 1 points 4 months ago

Traffic? You mean cars? Feel? I don't understand the question. Yes, there are cars. They are rather inconvenient to have around (I am pedestrian and live in a country with widespread public transport, so I don't even need a private car). Rephrase your question.

The second question is rather easy to answer: I just saw an interesting picture while sorting by "all". Of course I am not subscribed to this community. Just walking by.

[-] haungack@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 4 months ago

Harm per presence is actually looking pretty darn good compared to cars, not to mention other humans. And if looking at certain nations and cultures where "strays" are historically not seen as such, but as communal protectors, where people are culturally aware of how to treat and coexist with them, they're often if not widely regarded as a major net-benefit.

[-] Lembot_0004@discuss.online -2 points 4 months ago

I am talking about dogs in cities, not about some paleolithic-tier hunter communities.

Hitler would probably fall into this categorization, he really loved animals

[-] raspberriesareyummy@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

Definitely not. His bombs killed hundreds of millions of animals, too...
