Please do. Makes a change from the yanks posting about folk nobody has heard of!
Excrept from article.
“She had told us about being followed by the two on her way to coaching and we had also filed a complaint with the area police station a month ago… But no action was taken. We had also contacted the family members of the two persons and told them about how she was being pestered by them. For a few days, they did not follow her but started to do so in the past week,”
Why is it that whenever some horrible news about something in India gets posted, it's always UttarPradesh? Is it just that only stuff from there is getting posted for some reason, or is that part of India particularly prone to trouble?
Because it is run by religious nationalists.
actually the whole country is, but this particular place is the most worse since most of the votes come from here.
I increasingly suspect that Uttar Pradesh might be the worst place in the entire world for women, Afghanistan included.
The awfulness of this aside, I think it would be great to have non-US news here.
personally i am fine with small communities because our ruling party(BJP) is running social media campaigns since 2013 that is why reddit is spoiled.
i hope this grows, but steadily. so that the bad actors don't come here.
had they seen this post this would have been downvoted to hell.
that is why news critical of india does not reach front page on reddit. Unless people Really try (for example the extrajudicial killing in canada).
Is it a state sponsored thing then? I did notice, back when I used reddit, that whenever you sorted the world news subreddit by controversial, a huge part of that would be articles about negative things in India, which rarely appeared on the front page, but my assumption at the time was that it was just that India has a huge population and unlike, say, China, those people are actually allowed on Reddit, so it if some article upset some fraction of them it would naturally lead to a lot of downvotes.
if some article upset some fraction of them
it's both state sanctioned and blind nationalists.
