The speed at which public and political perception has turned on Israel is remarkable.

I guess that's what happens when you commit war crimes, Ben.

It is, but at the same time the lines on the map being slightly thicker doesn't really do a lot for Gaza.

It's still going to be bombed to dust and bulldozed into the sea.

It's easier to condemn one country attacking another country's territory than a country carrying out attacks on it's own. Basically, it turns the Gaza crisis from a domestic issue to an international issue.

We had no problem intervening in Serbia when they were doing the same thing though. Kosovo wasn't it's own country until years later.

I suspect the key difference is Serbia was a Russian ally (although even they fell out over this) and Israel is a US outpost.

Recognition means things like you don't need to ask Israel to enter Palestinian territory.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
