I have definitely found 2e's grapple rules to be very simple, but this is at the cost of being useful. It lasts only until the end of your next turn, and you don't get any bonus to continue the grapple. You have only very limited ability to Reposition someone you've grabbed. There's no "drag" action. No way for you to move someone already grabbed by more than 10 ft, and even that on a critical success. 5 ft on a normal success. With no grab-related circumstance bonuses.
