Govee, Matter, and HA (midwest.social)

Hey, anyone use the newer Govee products that are Matter enabled in Home Assistant? How much control does HA have on these products? How much are you forced to use the Govee app?

My govee lights are the bane of my smart home. I've tried 3 different ways of integrating them and really only Govee2MQTT has been working for me but it's really delayed. Wish I had known about zigbee and HA before redoing our basement's lighting.

Edit to answer your actual question: I had to use the govee app a ton before Govee2MQTT and it still is the only non HA integration that's directly hooked up with Google.

Going to find out if things improved when I pull them out for Christmas again this year.

Picked up the Christmas lights 2 last year mattter allowed for on off and solid color control not much else. Nothing like scenes or patterns.

I used Govee2mqtt to control them instead from HA as the built in integration didn’t support that model yet last year and G2M just had way more features .
