NAS/server component recommendation
(feddit.fr)
That's not a NAS, that's a full-on PC.
What you want for a NAS is a low power CPU, minimal memory, and hot swap capability.
If you're looking more an application server, then that's a different story. In either case, you probably want the lowest end non-APU chip.
My current server is 10 years old. I'm self-hosting since ages. I do know what are my needs.
But I also have stopped being hardware enthusiast. I have no idea of actual good brands, models and price range.
I'm not looking help to know what my needs are but to know what can fulfill them in a non money-throwing way.
A place to share alternatives to popular online services that can be self-hosted without giving up privacy or locking you into a service you don't control.
