As someone that will watch a group of movies over and over let me tell you the joy of having the media just straight to the menu not five previews, a warning about piracy, and then endless production bs ... that is what made criterion copies so valuable.

i read all the materials, and consume all the supplementary films and commentary.

but that they jump straight to the menu. that small detail makes their copies so much more viewer friendly and so valuable to me.

And this is why I rip and stream from my own (Jellyfin) server. None of that nonsense, direct to the video.
