I thought this was about the really special editions. I think they're about $100 each. One contains a replica of a crystal shard, the other a clear crystal sphere.

Another disaster for Lionsgate and just three weeks after release.

[-] UKFilmNerd@feddit.uk 1 points 1 day ago

Sadly, that comes at a cost. According to Amazon.com, directly converted, the 4K is about £30. Once you add tax and shipping fees, it rises to £45! That's a bit steep.

Another US title I would love to see get a release in the UK. Also, it's worth noting that all the extras are the same that have been reused since the DVD days. Only the scan of the 35mm camera negative is new.

Speaking on the Inspire Me! podcast (via World of Reel), Stallone revealed that his script is a working progress, adding that “I wrote a few pages of it and it just seems to write itself.”

The actor and filmmaker than said that his prequel would catch up with Robert ‘Rocky’ Balboa while he’s still a teenager. Stallone suggested we’d see “Adrian at 15, Rocky at 17, Paulie, moving to a new neighbourhood, Rocky’s a bad boy.”

The veteran action star also said his prequel was “almost like Lady And The Tramp but with real people” – a reference to the 1955 animated Disney film about the romantic relationship between two dogs.

A quick scan of the Internet tells us that Balboa was born in Philadelphia in June 1945, which means Stallone’s prequel would take place in 1962. The story would then presumably explore how he got into boxing, and show some of the bouts he fought in before the events of 1976’s Rocky.

Now then, the big news today is that Franklin J. Schaffner’s Planet of the Apes (1968) has just been upgraded to 4K on all your favorite Digital services, including Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Movies Anywhere, Kaleidescape and more! It actually has Dolby Vision HDR on Apple TV (and it may elsewhere as well). Naturally, we’ve asked about the possibility of a physical 4K release of this film. I suspect there are no current plans, but I also suspect that if the title does well on Digital, that could change.

It’s not clear if this is the actor in the suit or a stand-in in make-up for reference. Previously the actor revealed in a Jimmy Kimmel Live interview that it wasn’t going to be a suit like the Chiklis version and likely would be fully CG.

Looking at the short seven-second clip that was posted to X/Twitter/The Bad Place, I reckon It's either a stuntman or, as the site mentions, a lighting reference.

(Adrian Edmondson, 1999) Release date: 26 August 2024 Limited Edition Blu-ray (UK premiere)

After a decade of honing their signature characters, Richie and Eddie, across TV and stage-show appearances, British comedy legends Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson (The Comic Strip Presents..., The Young Ones) finally gave the pair the big-screen outing which they truly deserved in the riotous, vomit-soaked entertainment that is Guest House Paradiso.

When Mr Nice (Simon Pegg, Shaun of the Dead) and his family check in to 'the cheapest hotel in Britain' -- run with maximum inefficiency and malfeasance by Richie and Eddie -- it sets off an outrageous chain of events involving rubber underwear, a beautiful Italian film star (Hélène Mahieu), her abusive fiancé (Vincent Cassel, Irreversible), and a consignment of radioactive fish.

Featuring a spectacular supporting cast, which also includes Fenella Fielding (Carry On Screaming!, Hammer's The Old Dark House) and Bill Nighy (Love Actually), this slapstick tour-de-force is a latter-day classic of disreputable British comedy, which has to be seen to be believed.

Limited Edition Blu-ray (UK premiere)

As a huge fan of the UK show Bottom, I was, and still am, a huge fan of this Bottom movie. I bought a copy as soon as it was released on DVD, and it felt like it would never get a higher quality release.

It did appear on UK Netflix for a few days but unbelievably, they were streaming the film in 400P!! That's worse than standard definition!

In August 2023, Vinegar Syndrome released an exclusive copy of the film in the US. If I found a copy cheap online, I would've snapped one up. I was searching eBay today and discovered a new copy of the film showing up in my search. Turns out a UK exclusive copy was released yesterday (Aug 26th) and it has even more bonus features. Ordered!!

Sorry for the overexcitement. I do however feel this film probably has a rather niche audience.

Pheeeeb!

Work is continuing on “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” production in the UK with new photos and video emerging of two large outdoor sets being built for the production.

As the project is set in an alternate 1960s-esque retro-futuristic universe, one of the sets shows what has been suggested as being this Earth’s alternative version of Times Square complete with a massive old school TV, cars and smaller shopfronts.

Also visibile is the massive Excelsior launch pad which sits next to the Baxter Building and is still being worked on.

Drone footage of set.

To add to the insults, it was pointed out to me via Instagram yesterday, that in this shot from the trailer and film, you can see the crew member helping to pull the hatch open. 😄

The 8 bit guy. I loved his retro computing channel and then one day, he acquired a rare IBM computer and promptly destroyed the power supply by sticking a screwdriver into it (if I remember correctly).

For some reason, I googled about this and discovered he's a gun nut. They're videos of him going grocery shopping with his rifle on his back which apparently he does this knowing it will annoy people.

Unsubscribed from the channel and never looked back.

I forget his name right now, but I followed one of the writers of Bill & Ted on Twitter, he also wrote Men in Black. This was a couple of years ago but he showed a letter from Sony informing him that they still can't pay any residual cheques because according to their accounting, Men in Black was still in the red.

Yep, those were different times.

Battlecruiser 3000AD. This advert was later revised and they drew black knickers on the model.

Psycho Pigs UXB. Another British classic?

We have a problem over at feddit.uk, the sole admin has gone missing and no one has been able to contact him. All we wanted is for a few more people to be made admins then problems could be solved. A new server/instance is going to be created and hopefully everyone on feddit can move over. Unless the admin comes back, it will fall behind in updates and become defederated. This happened once a few weeks ago by lemmy.world but we managed to convince them it was in error and they federated us back in.

Back in the old days of 8bit computing, I remember a few magazines used to explain their scoring system.

Most magazines reviewed a game out of ten. A score of five would be an average. The game is just ok. Not brilliant but not terrible either.

A great game would be an eight or nine. Very rarely would a game receive a ten as that indicates perfection.

In today's world, the way people talk, it feels like a game needs at least an 8 (or 80%) or it's not even worth touching.

Dredd had a really poor advertising campaign. I think the first trailer only came out a few weeks before it's release when for other films it's months in advance.

I think the first footage I saw was actually a VFX breakdown that somehow made it's way into YouTube but it didn't stay there long.

There was a big campaign to get a sequel and Dredd on Blu-ray rose to #1 in the Amazon sales charts.

One of the executive producers, Adi Shankar, explained in a YouTube video that he appreciated the effort but the big problem was the box office returns. Everyone who invested made a loss, so no one wanted to invest in a sequel.

Rebellion were going to make a Mega City One series which may have had appearances from Dredd occasionally but I think that project has stalled.
