Community for self-study? (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

Good evening all,

New to Lemmy, pleasure to be here

I'm looking for a lemmy community to share self-study progress and chatter - if anyone knows any spaces, that would be fantastic!

with gratitude,
the prinx

If you're interested in writing (e.g. fiction/poetry) there's !writing_lounge@literature.cafe and !writing@slrpnk.net

If you're interested in fitness, !fitness@lemmy.world and !Weightroom@sh.itjust.works have a certain amount of "report how you're doing".

If you create a new community, be sure to announce it on !newcommunities@lemmy.world

Sergio, my new found compadre, thank you for your wisdom!

I have created a new community !tea_and_study@lemmy.world, but also will check out the spaces you recommend. I have posted on newcommunities as suggested.

What subject are you looking for, specifically? What are you aiming to get out of the community?

Pleasure to meet you Cowbee. I was unaware that a chimeric blend of pollinater and bovine existed - we live in a truly wonderful world.

Personally I am interesting in Computer Science, Philosophy, Languages, Literature, and Fashion - and of course, as the mighty Auster mentioned below I can find these communities individually.

I was hoping for more of a space for group study, perhaps on Lemmy, Mastodon, or Matrix. Qualities such as:\

  • Reading groups,\
  • Study groups,\
  • Sharing of literature / papers,\
  • Chat rooms to study in (matrix, I suppose)\
  • Language exchange

The equivalent of these spaces on reddit, twitter, discord. If one has not yet fruitioned, perhaps we can fashion one into existence.

    Wonderful passing you, Cowbee

Understood. If you're into Marxism-Leninism, I know Lemmygrad.ml has some reading groups (both a weekly theory thread and a weekly general literature thread), and Hexbear.net has study groups on anti-Zionism, anti-imperialism, and standard self-improvement threads. Blahaj.zone is defederated from both, so you'd need to make another account to access them.

I know there are many communities for computer science around here, though fewer for language learning, philosophy, and fashion.

Self Improvement is the closest I know currently, but if there's a better one I want in too

I like your thinking optissima, thank you greatly!

Thinking of creating a space for pair / group study on Mastodon / Lemmy / Matrix - equivalent to the spaces on Twiiter / Reddit / Discord that I'm just not gelling with as much anymore.

I will let you know if I create anything.

I bet a reading group lemmy would do well, but that's more adjacent

Maybe also for specific subjects? Only one that comes to mind is !languagelearning@sopuli.xyz because it's a subject I like, but I'd imagine there are others.

Fantastic idea Auster, thank you! I shall peruse the spaces that align with my purpose
