"Trolls"? Fuck off, seriously. He's going to invade and bomb Greenland and what, are the headlines just going to read "Trump trolls Nuuk citizens"?

Is Trump going to invade and bomb Canada and we'll get to see headlines the next day saying "Epic troll, Trump just flattened Ottawa"? Sorry, I guess "we" as in the rest of the world will see those headlines because I'd be dead

Fuck

It's the media continuing to sane wash Trump rather than do actual journalism.

[-] PunnyName@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

It's what happens when conservatives buy up the remaining newspapers.

I watched a movie from the 90s yesterday about civil war breaking out in America. There's a scene where one newsanchor calmly tries to report on other news and the other newsanchor has an absolute meltdown telling him "fuck off, there is no other news". I wanna see a reporter melt down like on air in real life. I wanna see the insanity be properly acknowledged

[-] SwingingTheLamp@piefed.zip 1 points 3 months ago

Turns out that the movie Don't Look Up may have been intended to satirize our response to climate change, but the portrayal of the media response is evergreen.

[-] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 months ago

The movie I'm talking about is called Second Civil War

[-] NotSteve_@piefed.ca 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Yeah, I'm generally used to American media doing that by now but this headline is just so absurdly dismissive of non-American lives that it's infuriating

[-] Binturong@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 months ago

This media can't differentiate between trolling and threats. Just like tRump 'floating' wildly illegal actions to test popularity and desensitize the public before just doing them regardless. I haven't decided whether this is intentional misrepresentation and journalistic malpractice, or ignorance and incompetence (a different kind of malpractice), but I do know the outcome is the same either way.

Do you expect professionalism from the US under Orange man?

[-] Binturong@lemmy.ca 0 points 3 months ago

What about my comment makes you think I would?

[-] Bogus007@lemmy.zip 0 points 3 months ago

This media … ignorance and incompetence

What makes you think that this media is ignorant or incompetent? These are strong words, which IMHO need to be proven. Otherwise it is a simple rant related to frustration.

[-] Binturong@lemmy.ca 0 points 3 months ago

They sure are, and I don't owe you a thesis statement on how I concluded this, opinions don't need proving to being with and I know that I've been exposed to, and critical of all political perspectives in US media for years. I did not ask for your "humble opinion" which is far from humble when presented as more valid than mine since it's assumed your rejection of my opinion doesn't require evidence of any sort, and I have no interest in entertaining your ignorance. If you would care to objectively assess the state of legacy media in the US under constant threat from tRump and his crony led FCC, I invite you to do so, and then perhaps we could have a serious discussion. Until then, and because you only seem able to criticize the terminology I use while ignoring the point, I'm going to ignore you because I think your only goal in responding to me is distraction and suppression.

[-] Bogus007@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 months ago

What do you then mean by „this media”? The singular form tells me you are thinking of a particular media like Lemmy. May be we have a misunderstanding here, because what concerns Trump and his entourage, I suppose we share the same thoughts as almost all users here.

[-] thecaptaintrout@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I wouldn't use the word 'troll', maybe 'mask off'.

Edit: u/shittydwarf had "Threatens", definitely a better word.

[-] comrade_twisty@feddit.org 1 points 3 months ago

Yeah troll is something that does not apply to a US president, even if they are mentally challenged and have the brainpower of a 8 year old spoiled child.

[-] radiofreebc@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

That's not trolling...that's a threat that needs to be taken seriously. Wake up, America...you're losing your country to fascists.

[-] VerilyFemme@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 3 months ago

Hitler trolls European Leaders with German Map showing Austria, Sudetenland, and Danzig as German territories.

[-] msage@programming.dev 1 points 3 months ago

Maybe we should let him have some of that land, then he will chill out.

Let him have some Poland, too, as a treat.

[-] Jimbel@lemmy.world 0 points 3 months ago

What is the us-american opposition doing about this? Trump is literally threatening ww3 and if not stopped he will start it.

[-] Hux@lemmy.ml -1 points 3 months ago

He’s getting better at distracting us from the Epstein Files.

[-] trollercoaster@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 months ago

As if that mattered.

He has established a dictatorship where he clearly is above any law and all other scrutiny. Whether he stuck his dick some place forbidden or not won't undo him.

[-] Hux@lemmy.ml 0 points 3 months ago

Depressingly, the minds that matter in this case are those of the portion of the US electorate who voted for him.

I promise that voting block is more likely to be appalled by verified sexually abuse of minors, than they would be of military/colonial activities.

Doing what he is doing keeps the MAGA faithful focused on their fondness for violent nationalistic xenophobia and distracted from their pearl clutching puritanical offense at sexual offenses.

[-] trollercoaster@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

The people who voted for him will believe anything he says. They are stupid enough to have voted for that deranged idiot. If he tells them it's all fake news, they'll believe it. Also, by the way things are going, they won't get to vote again anyway.

[-] jacksilver@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

I mean, trying to start WWIII is probably a bigger deal than anything we could find in the Epstein files. I'm not sure commiting even worse acts counts as a distraction.
