Some unknown scientists probably did but Edison didn't know what it was so he couldn't steal the idea.
No. Edison accomplished nothing of value in his life.
The two statements aren't mutually exclusive.
Well then one of his employees accidentally made it.
Or he could make something interesting, not notice, and do nothing with it.
