It used to be possible right ? doesnt have to be a strictly youtube focused site either, being able to grab url from other sites are always a plus, only suggest apps that are on fdroid (main repo) .

Also for those who dk and might find useful you can use webtor to get a network stream url from magnet links, tho i wont suggest it as the lag and experience is abysmal and misses important functions like seeding .

Creating an addon collection as per this guide allows me to install computer addons to my Android phone:
https://www.androidpolice.com/install-add-on-extension-mozilla-firefox-android/

The addon I use to grab streams didn't want to work on youtube though, but it worked to grab video streams from other sites.

Ah well youtube is a must, thanks tho

Yeah, the main tip was that you can use whatever you use to grab streams from youtube on firefox on your computer and add that addon to a collection to get it on your phone.

I didnt read the article cause i aldready had a way to add computer only addons to ff android which is visit addons site in desktop mode and click on see desktop addons suggestion and get desktop addons from there .

Ah, I take it this is the tactic you use?

Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/ rather than https://addons.mozilla.org/android/ when you find the extension you want to try use the menu button (hamburger/three stripe icon) and toggle "Desktop site" then you can use the "Add to Firefox" button.

Otherwise, if you followed an extension link, you may have to switch to "Desktop site", then remove /android from the URL in address bar.

It should then install the add-on, but if it tries to download the file instead, then change privacy.resistFingerprinting.block_mozAddonManager back to the default false in about:config.

yes, the first sentence, i didnt have any problem so idk abt the rest, but i only downloaded one extension that one time then removed it half an hour later, i try to keep my extensions to a minimum, i have three now and two are disabled ofcourse ubo being the one always active

Dunno about an extension, but I use tubular (a newpipe fork with sponsorblock) on android and set it to open all the links for youtube videos on it. It has been working quite good, although lately I've been getting some videos not showing on tubuluar. Probably some change on youtube break this kinda of app.

its cause tubular uses newpipe extractor for fetching videos and itbwas broken for a few days, got fixed yesterday tho so will be solved when they merge upstream changes, id recommend using newpipe over tubular, its what i use .
