The real reason why I don't like to stream with Nvidia GeForce Now (www.nvidia.com)

Am I the only one who thinks that Nvidia is analyzing the gameplay footage you play, to feed their Ai tools? And you login with your account in their cloud, in example your Steam account. They have access to everything theoretically. The Ai can analyze everything...

I was about to try the free tier to play games that do not work on Linux. Streaming could be a way to at least play some of the games I could not otherwise. The cool thing is, I have full access to my Steam library and do not need to buy games for this service. But I really dislike the idea that Nvidia could use all of the information to feed their Ai.

It never occurred to me that they would. Though sadly I can't afford a new gaming PC. My rig is from 8 or 9 years old. And the GPU was a former mining card that I rescued from ebay, lol. RX 580 8gb, 16gb DDR4 ram, and Ryzen 5 2600. Not bad but it's showing its age with modern games. Also does not have RTX so some won't even run like Indiana Jones. Only way to play is by streaming services. Lately been using GFN to play KCD2 and it's actually quite good even on WiFi. Just playing it on my laptop and only occassional stuttering. Though granted I am only in the tutorial level and have not had many big battles yet. I have also tried Enshrouded and Medieval Dynasty and they work ok though it does stutter a bit.

Pretty sure they do it but I don't mind it that much. If they're using that data to improve DLSS or whatever then it means at least it's helping to improve a service.

So you just give up on your privacy, so a big corporation can profit of it? And you think they don't sell the data to other Ai companies? I'm not a fan of this.

Privacy is not a yes/no flag, you can have different degrees of privacy across different types of activities online. I said I wouldn't mind them monitoring my game activity if I found it was used to improve one of their services. I was speculating. Just like you speculating that they do harvest the data and that they sell it to others ( not sure where that came from ). Also since you mention a steam account, do you think they're not harvesting your data so they can sell you things ( at the very least ) ? Why are you giving up on privacy?

Point is if you're online your activity will be monitored. If you want privacy play offline games on an offline machine, preferably on linux. Otherwise start to think about all the tools you use and if them harvesting your data is worth what you get in return

First, I do not want Nvidia to take all my data, but I trust Valve. I do not think Valve is feeding user data into Ai and sell the data to customers. Yes, at this point this is speculation. I mean do you trust your personal information Valve or Microsoft more? This is a similar situation here, I have 0 trust in Nvidia at this point.

That's not the point of my discussion. This is specifically about Nvidia, if they are spying and selling data, training their Ai with it. And I believe they do. And that would bug me. Playing games on Steam (online or offline) does not imply Valve does this what Nvidia does or is even capable of. Valve in example does not even have footage of the game I play or what I type in the private chat in example.

Seeing what I play, what I play, how often, when? Basically everything. What is that not privacy at all? They can analyze every key stroke, can read what I do, which games I play, how i decide to do anything. Besides, they would see every chat I do in the games too. They can see my private Steam account in example and could analyze everything on screen. Which is usually only visible to my family or parts only to me.

Using Nvidia GeForce Now is massive privacy infringing, if we believe they do all of this. Or they could if they wanted to, you give them access at least.

Surely they do this with their own graphics cards if they have such software built into GFN then they likely have it built into their Nvidia Drivers for their hardware products?

I don't think you're wrong to consider this a privacy problem, but lots of people happily stream their gameplay publicly, so not everyone's going to have the same expectation of privacy.

But streaming means they are prepared and they know. Its a decision and therefore not violating privacy, because streaming is not a privacy act.

I don't understand what you mean by that. So you agree with me. I did not say anything changed because of Ai, and you agree on this. It is privacy infringement. But... with Ai of today, they have a huge incentive and they can actually parse and use the data. I mean is it really that unbelievable? They have the capacity to do it now, before that, they didn't. So this changed if you ask to me.
