Better but "sovereign nation" is also propaganda.
Yeah, Maduro is objectively a dictator who plainly overruled democratic elections that he lost even while rigging them. And not even in an already-disgusting Bush v. Gore way – that I'm sure somebody's going to whataboutism to if I don't mention it because what the US does is surely the correct basis for all geopolitical ethics – but in an "I will send my opponents to prison and stay in power despite overwhelmingly obvious results" way.
Trump is illegally invading and ransacking Venezuela for personal gain, it's obvious he doesn't give a flying fuck about anything else, and militaristic imperialism is not the way you deal with Maduro. As you say, however, "sovereign nation" as though the people of Venezuela were free to decide as they wished is oversimplified.
You're not wrong but I more meant I have an objection to the entire concept of sovereign nations in international politics. The whole idea of sovereign nations is designed to subvert and crush the autonomy of sub-national organizations and people.
But yes, Maduro's rule is a perfect example of that. So is Trump's.
Well, neither. But oil companies only actually told Trump they can't actually get oil there after he ordered them to go and take it.
