"Open links in a new tab" option doesn't do anything for me (sh.itjust.works)

not sure if this is an issue just with this instance, or a general lemmy problem.

I have the options "Open links in a new tab" checked, but nothing ever opens in a new tab. this has been a problem for me for almost 3 years on this instance. i just assumed it would be fixed in an update some day.

using firefox on debian, if that makes a difference

The feature was added a while back but I think it's at least partially broken.

Like it does open in a new tab if you click the preview, but not if you click anywhere else (including other places with the same icon).

(Tested on Firefox and chromium on Android)

thanks for the explanation. would be nice if ALL links would open in a new tab, even the comment section, or opening a community link. but i guess that's something to reported to the lemmy devs.

thanks for the update and all you do in maintaining the instance!
