Goddamn UK, what the shit?

Being fascist dickwads is our thing at the moment!

Calling this fascism is not helpful to anyone...

This is Maria arrest as per the article

"the police knocked on Maria’s door. They told Maria that they had received reports that someone was being held in the house against their will, “and that the woman who was still staying in the house accused me of selling sex on the premises,”"

Maria's QC pressured her to accept a guilty verdict but we are never told why.

The guilty plea is what triggers the deportation - which she can appeal and is doing so (hence the comment from her solicitor).

Lastly had her crime been human trafficking people into brothels - would you still be saying the same?

Helpful in the sense of defining current governmental actions as overstepping by a very large degree?

I say potato.

The US showed that you can just straight up lie and commit crimes and still be allowed in power. So now everyone's trying it.

Results vary because it depends on the power of that particular country's equivalent to a constitution. You couldn't get away with Trump levels of draconianism in the UK but that still leaves a lot of wiggle room.

All that said this whole story is very confusing, there doesn't seem to be any evidence of a crime having been committed and yet it still went to court and she was told to plead guilty? That really doesn't sound right. I suspect there's more detail to the story that we haven't been told.
