Well dang! I was thinking it would be someone else, but that'll do.
yay! i have a motorola phone hopefully i will be able to install grapheneOS on it some day. though for some stupid government/banking apps i'll probably need a secondary, crappier phone with the usual spyware on it. i really hope that they make grapheneOS available for already purchased Motorola phones.
edit: from what i see it looks like it's probably gonna be for newer devices, and that is very sad, as i'm only gonna buy a new phone in like 3 to 4 years. Anyway, at least motorola has pretty good hardware and ok prices. Wait, do newer motorola phones come with a headphone jack? my Moto G55 has a headphone jack.
https://keepandroidopen.org/ <- offtopic with the post, but i'm just leaving this here in case someone hasn't seen it.
I've used pixels but before then I used to use Motorola. I always like them and they had the best gestures like the twist shake to turn on the flashlight and the tip shake to turn on the camera.
Interesting
I'll believe it when I see it
While exciting, Motorola is bottom of the barrel hardware and support, but you gotta start somewhere.
The thing with open source is that there doesn’t need to be a “partnership”. Motorola/Lenovo can just take the code and make the necessary changes on their own.
FUCK YEAH! LETS GOOO!
My moto g85 doesn't have any custom roms yet. I just tried on Lineage OS old 8.1.0 rom for my moto Z and now I desperately want to do the same on my current phone. Lineage is what I hoped for but now Graphene? FUCK YEAH!
Anything but a mainstream brand!
Pixels are stupid for GOS since the HW is mid at best and overpriced. If you are buying a phone to flash it anyway, the decision should be made only on hardware (and ability to flash)
Motorola is a mainstream brand
Hell yes! Best smartphone I have had is my current Motorola, and it was surprisingly cheap too. Would love to put Graphene on it.
My jaw is on the floor
I am a huge fan of this. It's a big step in the right direction.
I think it's just smart business, too.
Several companies deserve a larger market share in the cell phone game, and it seems the levers to pull which get us there are OS and hardware based.
Tons of users and enterprise users just begging for better solutions.
