I live very close by and fucking hate this consulate. Most mornings dozens and sometimes hundreds of visa applicants hover around it, mostly on Simcoe Street, and consulate staff instruct visitors not to stand on the public sidewalk on the consulate's side of the street (they have no authority to prevent anyone from doing so).

Jewish and Iranian places in Toronto got shot at and I guess someone thought "might as well include the Americans".

In a post on X, Toronto police said officers responded to reports that someone had shot at the building, located near Queen Street W. and University Avenue, around 5:30 a.m. When officers arrived on the scene, police said, they found evidence that a firearm had been discharged.

No one was reported injured, police said.
