Ahoy guys,

I recently went to DL a TV show and found that ALL of its torrents had been abandoned, so I bought the DVDs, ripped them, and made my own. (Uploaded to a super old PB acc I had). It's been downloaded a few hundred times off my seeding alone. I got the torrent thrill and was thinking about doing this more.

With fake torrents & impersonation being a thing, my first thought was to sign my files/releases/messages with a PGP, however, I can't think of a single time I've seen this happen in the wild. Does this go against a rule? Is it accepted that nobody would ever check so why do it? It seems like a really simple step that would make things easier for everyone.

Very curious if anyone has any input, thanks.

Lets give more evidence that this came from me LOL.

I am not too deep into the scene, but i could imagine that this is not neccessarily desired since every signed release could be linked to them from a forensic and juristic perspective. (in the case they are arrested)

I think it's unwise to do something illegal (morality of it are debatable) and create a paper trail of it. One loose end, and your ass is now connected to every single releases that you've ever done.

There's no need for scene groups to sign their releases. If they notice a fake, they simply nuke the release and siteops purge whoever pred it.

Not sure. Maybe I'll do it with my releases, I dunno. I don't exactly release any high profile stuff though, and I typically just avoid torrents because I'm afraid of getting a scary letter from my ISP. Perhaps that's unwise though.

Scene Groups don't care about normal leechers. They only share the releases between themselves.
