Even if this is correct as far as I can tell, it still is a political ad and should be marked as such.

Gee a politician making a video is a political ad?

So is Dougie pouring out bottles of Crown Royal.

Good for you if you immediately recognize her as a politician.

Not everyone will. For those who don't, it's only revealed towards the end of the video. In fact, earlier in the video a statement is made that almost makes it sounds like she's a journalist:

And here's the thing: we only found about it because of freedom of information requests that we had filed - that journalists had filed

Is marking something as a political advertisement a requirement and what’s the best way to do that? And just for the original post? Still learning the conventions.

I don't think it's a requirement per se, but generally when an ad is shared it should be clear that it is an ad IMO. Especially in this case, it looks like it's not an ad but an explanation video.

Marit Stiles attributes Doug Ford’s desire to change the Freedom of Information Act to the court ruling requiring him to share his phone records connected to the Green Belt land scandal where developers who were friends of Doug provided his minister with a list of land they wanted to develop on. 92% of the land on the list was subsequently opened up by Doug’s government for development. It is posited that his phone records will reveal damning evidence in this regard.

It is long but worth watching if you want to get a sense for Marit Stiles’ style. Rehearsed but still she seems far more professional and capable of leading a competent government that focuses on the needs of the people of Ontario than Doug.

It's five minutes. Is that really too long? TikTok/Reels have destroyed people's attention span I guess.
