Griddle wall rack (media.piefed.social)

I had the griddle hooked on a couple screws for a long time, and my partner encouraged me to finally upgrade.

griddle on rack

I cut up a seat I'd someone else was throwing out.

Pieces

Table saw to cut widths, band was to shape the holders, back to dado on the table saw to notch the backs of the holders.

Hand plane for all the flat sides, sanded the edges. Spent more time finishing it than it really merits for something that will be hidden almost all the time.

That turned out great! I imagine it would work perfect for cutting boards as well 🤔

Thanks! I was surprised I couldn't find a commercial product like this, I mostly saw ones like this one from Reddit:

Wall rack with hooks

But I don't have that much free wall space, and didn't want a rail/hooks.

I feel like that's just a recipe for brushing against those every time you walk through that hallway too. It wouldn't take me even a week to regret that.

I don’t want to dust the tops of all those pans.

And cast iron usually requires oil after use, which traps the dust even better!

Yeah, I don't like that design at all. First thought is that dogs would be licking them constantly. Lol

Mine was, "how much noise would the cats make playing with that at 3:00AM, and could they unhook the smaller pans at the bottom?" (One of our cats is an evil genius who will, among other things, open drawers to pull out his toys when he's bored.)

Let me validate your finishing time, you've got it behind the stove where oil will splash on it a lot. the time you spent finishing it will make it easier to clean.

looks really great!

Cat: "That's a nice cooktop you got here. T'would be a shame if this griddle fell on it..." 😼

Hah, luckily no cat present. I considered inlaying magnets at the top of making some kind of latch, I do dread what would happen if the griddle's handles came down on the cooktop.
