I prefer droid-ify to f-droid. It uses the f-droid repos, so you get the same apps, but it removes the annoying UI f-droid has.

Thunderbird is a K-9 reskin. They're the same app. People pick based on what icon and app name they want I guess.

You might try loops instead of TikTok.
You can use non-free softwares and still be a FOSS advocate. You just can't impose non-free software on others, including "soft" impositions like only publishing your content in proprietary formats or only accepting messages via proprietary protocols.

I use SmartLauncher; it has an option to change all the app icons so they match the wallpaper.
