Just wanted to ask because I felt communist before reading books myself. Are people allowed to identify as commie if they have a good grasp on the meaning without having red much?
I love communism for all its depth but to the average Joe, having to read "Das Kapital" probably looks daunting and thats like the start of the reading journey.
There is no central authority that defines communism, so nobody can stop you from calling yourself communist, the word also has had varying definitions over time. The main difference I see is that if you haven't read anything, you are a idealist communist as your opinion is not based on a materialist analysis of the mode of production.
I mean there is other media that could lead you to a materialist analysis of the mode of production and I would argue that for many comrades these times they first educate themselves via social media and start reading once they are largely ideologically aligned.
Oh, yeah sure. It depends on the social medium I guess. Long form YouTube content should definetly work, not sure if something like twitter actually allows content to be in depth enough to get a understanding of anything. I thought you meant with your original comment people that like the communist goal (communism) and generally support the actions/programms of communist movements, but haven't actually informed themselves on materialism and the underlying contradictions of captalism.
Yeah hour long essays about the UdSSR and socialism was the pipeline that brought me here. I knew "tankies" were on hexbear but my understanding changed before I dared to come here and take up reading "black magic books".
I misread the last sentence and thought you said you read the black book as in:
I think I had my fill of CIA propaganda for a lifetime so no thanks 😂. For the sake of argument surely not a bad thing tho.

When writing stuff like "lol" and "iirc", it's a good idea to try and replace those with their all caps counterpart

- af = AF
- ok => OK
- lol => LOL
- bc => BC
- bs => BS
- iirc => IIRC
- cia => CIA
- nato => Nato (you don't spell it when talking, right?)
- usa => USA
- prc => PRC
- etc.
Why? Because otherwise (AFAIK), screen readers will try to read them out as actually words instead of spelling them

2. Anti-Imperialism means recognizing capitalist states like Russia and China as such
That means condemning (their) imperialism, even if it is of the "anti-USA" flavor.
3. No liberalism, (right-wing) revisionism or reactionaries.
That includes so called: Social Democracy, Democratic Socialism, Dengism, Market Socialism, Patriotic Socialism, National Bolshevism, Anarcho-Capitalism etc. . Anti-Socialist people and content have no place here, as well as the variety of "Marxist"-"Leninists" (read: Dengists) (actual ML's are welcome as long as they agree to the rules and don't just copy paste/larp about stuff from a hundred years ago).
4. No Bigotry.
The only dangerous minority is the rich.
5. Don't demonize previous and current socialist experiments or (leading) individuals.
We must constructively learn from their mistakes, while acknowledging their achievements and recognizing when they have strayed away from socialist principles.

6. Don't irrationally idolize/glorify previous and current socialist experiments or (leading) individuals.
Notable achievements in all spheres of society were made by various socialist/people's/democratic republics around the world. Mistakes, however, were made as well: bureaucratic castes of parasitic elites - as well as reactionary cults of personality - were established, many things were mismanaged and prejudice and bigotry sometimes replaced internationalism and progressiveness.
