If your truck does not come from the factory with truck nuts and you add them aftermarket, your truck is Trans I don't make the rules.

Trans-porting things, I'm not even making it up.

And why did they waste legislative time on this? Before they made a bill you could not be compelled to use someone's preferred pronouns due to first amendment protections. After the bill you still cannot be compelled, but now there is a specific Wyoming law that doesn't change anything.

So they wasted state time and resources to make a bill just to be mean towards trans people. They didn't solve any real issues facing anybody in the state.

Cruelty was the point.

For some reason, anti-trans people are fucking terrified of the government forcing them to use someone's preferred pronouns. This occupies a lot of their thinking, and they put a lot of effort into making sure -- at multiple levels -- that this could never happen. (And, if you ask them, most of them are convinced that there are many places in the world where it's already happening.)

I really don't get it. Even if it were somehow true, how bad is it, really, to have to use someone's preferred pronouns? Is that really such a big deal? Would it really hurt them so much to do that?

The problem you're having is that your looking for a logical answer without considering the mindset of the other side.

They aren’t trying to build a reason based/lawful way to defend themselves.

They are using bad faith and/or weaponised ignorance to be cruel dicks, that's the point.

They can then build on top of this to be even greater dicks to a larger variety of people.

There are potentially other motivations in the bigger picture, but at this level it's just "how can i weaponise my truly astonishing levels of crippling insecurity to hurt the 'other'" because that's how they pretend they have control/power enough to enjoy life.

They're the self-appointed Gender HOA, giving out citations because they have nothing else in their life.

Yeah this bill is pathetic, but this is the lawmakers serving their shitty constituents what they voted for.

[-] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Changing one’s surname after marriage has been fine forever but calling Brian Brianna is just a step too far…fucking idiotic but the cruelty and wasting legislative time is the point.

Defending free speech by drawing lines in the sand. It's basically legislating morality and then it's a sock drawer of crazy imo. That's about where the US is right now. Just a small corner of the sock drawer is chaos right now but it's getting worse every time that drawer jiggles.

Would it be a bad thing if everyone misgendered all Republicans?
