My council does fuck all as it is. Cutting it down to fuck all four days a week doesn't quite make sense to me.

  1. Austerity measures cut staffing
  2. staff are overloaded
  3. shorten working hours by 20% (for same pay)
  4. ???
  5. profit

I’m a fan of 4 day week, but how the fuck is this supposed to work? Get staffing levels to the point where the services can actually keep up with demand.

Everyone I know that works for a local authority is on a 35 hour per week contract so you could probably reduce that to 4 x 8 hour days with no meaningful loss in actual work done. I expect that is what they will do.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
