In my CAD class, the instructor requires explicitly AutoCAD because "that's the industry standard." As we know, AutoDork are a bunch pricks who refuses to get up from Microslop's lap, so I am in a tight spot rn.

Should I use a VM to run or would ACAD Web do the trick? Honestly, I can even try to push my luck with another CAD program that supports .dwg files.

there's WINE compatibility layer to install and use windows executables on linux. in my experience, however, its kinda a hit or miss.

an alternative is setting up a windows VM or doing a docked/podman container environment that has windows, but getting a .desktop file inside your linux environment is rather challenging. Generally for containerized environments I'd make bash scripts to run it.
