I didn't like the article at all so I edited out bits from this quote. Even one "I'm very clever" awkward aside is already one too many. And the article was fill of them.

Yesterday, the trailer was released for upcoming historical drama As Deep as the Grave. The film at first appears to be a bargain bin bit of Western schlock: the effects are janky, it's crammed with straight-to-DVD trailer clichés — “discover the untold story, a true story,” declares one text overlay.

His appearance in the film was entirely AI generated, according to filmmakers Coerte and John Voorhees. They argue that Kilmer's AI resurrection is as ethical as digital necromancy can come: generative technology was only used “out of necessity and a deep desire to include Kilmer in their project,” per the movie magazine.

Kilmer's estate was compensated for his appearance — his daughter Mercedes threw her weight behind the film in a statement, saying that he “would have wanted to be included” — which Coerte described at CinemaCon as being “substantial” and “over an hour.”

I don't know anything about Mercedes but I assume she's full of crap and lying to justify getting all that money. Also - of course - Klimer is the kind of actor pro-AI ghouls might want in a "cameo" and her daughter has told everybody her father is readily available for sale no matter however shitty the project.
