Microprose publishes games that almost always seem to be right up my alley. Carrier Command 2, Highfleet, Tiny Combat Arena, and this. Not all the games but a good chunk.

Sea Power is a lot of fun too.

For those who loved Janes Fleet Command, Sea Power is the only true successor.

I really need to get back into Highfleet. I did a few runs but then ran out of steam.

It was so hard for me at first then it just clicked. The strike fleet music goes so damn hard.

MicroProse is still alive?!

"indie"

MicroProse might need help...

[-] Agent_Karyo@piefed.world 3 points 3 days ago

It's modern reincarnation of MicroProse from the 80s/90s.

They are pretty indie focused if you look at the games they publish.

This looks nice, but i have one burning question: why is a single player game like this excluded from family sharing?

[-] Midnitte@beehaw.org 1 points 4 days ago

So that you buy multiple copies, probably

Which goes completely against the reasoning of why Family Sharing was introduced at all. Tbh, you can't even blame someone who pirates this game after buying the first copy for his whole family, and by extension - fuck buying the first copy at all. This is as consumer hostile as they can get by clicking a single checkbox. There are enough safeguards to prevent abuse of Family Sharing.

I've never been into flight sim games but it's Microprose and everything they release I seem to buy and enjoy.

[-] sleet01@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago

After watching the trailer and the one (1!) dev playing it on stream, I picked it up. There's some nostalgia factor (this is what flight sims looked like back in the '90s) plus it's set in my area, and then they included the A-26C from Always as the fire bomber...

Of note: the game is under $9 USD.

That looks delightfully 1990's.
