We need a crowd-sourced parallel surveillance network that tracks cops and politicians. Faces, license-plates, Bluetooth...

Are the “clear and effective safeguards” another secretive internal process, by any chance?

What happens if you put on a balaclava and sunglasses anytime you see one? Is that even illegal?

No then society will collapse from terror attacks. Unless it's corona then everyone can wear a full face mask and nothing happens.

To make things worse: according to a freedom of information request filed in 2020 with all 32 councils in London, as well as 20 other major UK cities, about two-thirds of public cameras are made by two Chinese companies (Hikvision and Dahua) that are both accused of links to the repression minority groups in China, including allegations of forced sterilisation, slave labour and mass internment.

This will expose ordinary citizens to a foreign dictatorial regime, including those who fled from China and other countries to the UK to escape repression.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
