"The subcontinent" is India (as most people would have guessed, but it may be notable)

Edit: The Indian subcontinent includes Pakistan, India, Bangladesh (debatable) and Sri Lanka. Basically the British Raj

Well, I would have guessed there is more then one place on the subcontinent – at least Sri Lanka (otherwise just call it news from India)
