Im gonna sound like an idiot but...retroarch has a save problem??
The "problem" is that I will play on my retropi on my TV put when I am out somewhere and have my handheld my saves don't automatically transfer.
Pesonally I use syncthing between all my devices. Save on my TV and I can load the save game on my handheld.
Doesn't Lemmy have crossposting so you don't have to double-post into the feed in order to cover multiple communities?
Sure, it does! But waaaaay back when I first used Lemmy I'd not figured that out. And since then it has just become...habit. It doesn't bother me, I'm just copying and pasting a title and body text, and sometimes it is nice to have a dedicated post in smaller/every community anyway :)
Syncthing has all these features for free and works on mobile too. Just instruct your emulator to save to a Syncthing folder or create a new one. Has the added benefit of being able to sync any other type of file too, not just saves
Looks like it'd be a great way to play the same save and keep progress between my retropie, my modded n3dsxl, and my PC.
if only i wasnt too lazy to set it up.
I already had Syncthing set up on my PC, server, and phone, so adding another folder for game saves was a simple addition.
Definitely worth it to take an hour to set up and test everything so you never need to think about it again
got two handhelds and a console on my TV syncing to my VPS so I can go from my home to portable with no effort
Yep this is the way.
Keep all your saves in one folder then you can switch devices freely anf pick up where you left off. Like one playing on the TV, using the PC for GPU/streaming, and phone for mobile play.
