sometimes I get ready to read and because I don't have internet my fucking books are gone. even the ones I've "downloaded locally". even e-books I've fucking pirated and loaded on there sometimes don't show up. fucking apple

what is a good e-reader app I can put on it

skill issue, never had a problem (but all my books are pirated, maybe that's the issue?)

yeah i was about to say lol ibooks has never given me an issue with books showing up or functioning but mine are all pirated

most of mine are pirated but it probably is a skill issue, some kind of configuration mistake or something

Maybe its checking that you have rights for your books, and then enters some thonk of doom spiral

There are some open source ones on Android, but I don't think iOS is open-source friendly. https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.github.axet.bookreader/

I ended up just getting a kindle and loading everything from Calibre

The kindle app for iPad is pretty good alternative. It also saves progress across multiple devices. Of course, it means you’ll need an Amazon account and feed your data to papa lord-bezos-amused
