As far as I'm concerned, do what you want with your machine. I'll only really care if you host something for others insecurely, or ask for help when you knowingly ignore best practices. Otherwise, it's Linux. Have at it.
Or Sway with --my-next-gpu-wont-be-nvidia
Because for some inexplicable reason, Linux fans always seem to have nvidia
Here are some possible reasons
- Nvidia is more popular in general
- Gamers (used to see Nvidia perform better)
- CUDA (which is the de facto standard for AI/parallel computing)
- Many people come from windows
- Nvidia kinda works, with proprietary drivers and xorg
I had two PCs with an nvidia GPU at different points, and the damn proprietary drivers were the bane of my existence on both PCs. I call them novideo because almost every time I had any updates, the drivers stopped working. And it blows my mind that Linux-first companies like System76 are STILL selling laptops with those GPUs in them.
Linux users and vendors really need to stop giving that company their money.
There was a bug in the nvidia driver for a whole year that broke audio over display port for me and a bunch of other people. Had to use legacy drivers cuz fuck me I guess. It was a known issue basically the entire time.
They need to open source the driver before I will buy any nvidia products ever again. Still blows my mind that System76 and other Linux-first hardware companies are continuing to ship PCs with nvidia GPUs.
Idk if I'm smart enough to setup wayland
It's very easy to use Wayland if you don't have an nvidia GPU. Even KDE Plasma supports it.
gigachad based. I use Xfce tweaked n my Void Linux too
That's disgusting. That's possible? /s
I'll be back, I need to try something...
BuT dWm, kidding, use whatever works for you
I don't like suckless, I use gnome... on alpine
Gnome is my home, KDE is too complicated and is ugly in my opinion, it trys to act like windows and I don't like that

3. Post Linux-related content
- Including Unix and BSD.
