The topic of the book sounds interesting, but I'm wondering if it is still a good read today/aged well and if it is suitable for someone who isn't already familiar with sociology much. Is the writing style easily digestible, or is it a "hard read"?

It's been years but it was fairly readable from what I recall. I think the basic thesis is still true, perhaps more so nowadays. I have quibbles with bits and pieces but overall I thought it was pretty solid.

Thanks, that's good to hear. If its well readable, I think I'll order it.

I haven't read it but I read parts because it was mentioned in another book about video games I think and it seems interesting and not too hard to read. I think it's still pretty relevant only that now internet has replaced TV.

Thanks for your input! I think the current version even received an update about the internet.
