I admittedly don't know much about its historical background, but I found this a fascinating read about the legacy of the nineties' Bosnian war that is still acutely felt throughout the region.

Damn! This is a really good read, and heartbreaking how much people like us (who last experienced war during our grandparents' times) take for granted.

Yeah, I grew up in neighbouring Hungary, and I remember the Kosovo war was often mentioned at the time by the adults around me, but as a child it felt like a world away, so alien from the peaceful society I grew up in :(

It really struck me, while reading this article, how strongly it still affects the people living there. But of course it makes sense, it was only 25-30 years ago, barely a generation.

As someone who currently lives in the Balkans, I can confirm that bus drivers are very reliable when it comes to parcel transporting. Even companies use them when the package has to arrive at the destination on the same day, which is something even parcel services cannot guarantee.
