The only issue i have with this is they have essentially taken the space shuttles off centre engine placement without a reason for them to be angled like that, this doesnt seem to have a massive fuel tank strapped to it throwing off centre of mass.

The jet engine is below the rocket nozzle, forcing the offset. The rocket engine points towards the center of mass. How it has enough fuel for orbit without a tank, even if it is a hypersonic spaceplane, is unclear.

Maybe it has a really high angle of attack in flight?

The engines pointing like that ruins the whole image IMO, it makes no sense.

It makes perfect sense, they're pointed towards the ship's center of mass. In atmo, the jet needs to be more or less lined up with the wings, but up near space where the air is thin, the high AOA from switching to the rockets wouldn't be an issue–up there, what matter is whether your thrust vector lines up with COM. It's probably not comfortable for the pilot, but it gets the job done

Wait, is the french air force really called "the air army"? That's great.

[-] MelastSB@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 year ago

Yes, we have the land army, the air army and the Navy. We should have a sea army for consistency

Hah, I love it. Lets start a campaign to get the French sea army started!

All this talk about the aircraft and no comments about the adorable orange robo dogo carting around munitions with the heart on its side <3

It's got a strong 80s manga feel to it. Love it.
