It probably wouldn't work with Lemmy, but kbin users could do it. Might give the fediverse more attention, but it would need to be more original than a r/place clone.

I hope not - or at least not for a long time. There are too many core features and functions missing to spend time on stuff like that right now, IMO.

I agree. I find the culture here to be significantly better than reddit, but it still needs a-lot of work before they attempt something like r/place.

I wonder how it would even work with other instances though? It seems like that might be difficult to federate…

You could maybe make a magazine where each post represents a pixel and you can comment a color to change it then make an app interface that visualises the canvas when you enter the magazine and automatically posts for you when you click a pixel to change its color. That way each instance could take part in the canvas making if they wanted to.

I kind of don't like that idea. I come to KBin for purist Reddit-esque discussions and link sharing, and anything more would just be clutter. As it is, I already ignore the microblog.
