downbear I cannot believe people are defending this James Gandolfini slander

[-] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 16 points 1 year ago

I'll defend fakenew' right to exist although I'll agree it's general not that funny. I have gotten spoofed and befuddled on a couple occasions before checking the name of the comm and I enjoy getting got from time to time, the rest of the time it's clearly fake and mid at best. But whatever, no harm is being done.

i liked the anti union place I just told my partner about the funny little thing on the internet i found yesterday. and I thrive off fake news

I liked the anti union comm (understanding that it was never going to last longer than a week) because it was pretty obvious sarcasm. I don't like the fakenews comm because it tricked me once or twice and that's not fair.

Then after that, we're going after the cancheck comm.

ironically unbearing this

e: i take it all back /c/fakenews is mod posts only. fake news should be democratically controlled by a poster's soviet, not this bureaucratic betrayal of the revolution. down with /c/fakenews

I think also we should at least make a website to host the headlines there. Maybe make it a wiki. The selftext-ness of it is off-putting.

[-] iie@hexbear.net 2 points 1 year ago

for unrelated reasons I've been saying we need a wiki, mostly to compile sources and book recommendations people post on here

it would be funny if it had a fake news section with convincing CSS, maybe with a name parodying a real lib news outlet

I'd separate domains for serious vs satire. Have you tried prolewiki?

[-] plinky@hexbear.net 11 points 1 year ago

For whom the sidebar of that comm tolls. (I find it mildly amusing tbh, but didn't we have stealth tech for comms? or was that lost when we got to lemmy)

[-] Tachanka@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago

i advocate for destroying c/fakenews until they let me post on it

[-] oregoncom@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago

ok imma be honest. Wasn't the anti union comm just pictures of onions?

[-] alexandra_kollontai@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago

I like it and I also think it's a good reminder that not all fake news on the internet is labelled as such and I need to stay aware while browsing online lest I absorb lies as fact.

I'm throwing in my hat as a pro-Melina pro-FakeNews person

[-] a_blanqui_slate@hexbear.net 5 points 1 year ago

/c/Chaptraphouse3 would be the only funny bit comm, if /c/chapotraphouse3 were a bit.
