Waiter: It's fresh frozen.

Gordon: What do you mean by fresh frozen ice!?

[-] ObviouslyNotBanana@lemmy.world 28 points 11 months ago

Idiot: You can't just come here, Gordon fucking Ramsay, and yell at me about things I've done for 15 years expecting me to fucking do as you tell me!

Gordon: ok I'll fucking leave idiot

Idiot: no no no I'll do whatever you tell me UwU

[-] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 26 points 11 months ago

I'll never forget the time this motherfucker tried to make a grilled cheese sandwich using cheeses that don't really melt and the look on his face when he realized he fucked up.

[-] shadearg@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago

I can't take him seriously after that. Everything was wrong, and then made up fantasy as to what we were seeing while trying to pretend it was cuisine.

[-] snausagesinablanket@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

His brain is melted.

UK version was so much more grounded, recommend it if you can find it.

Edit: hang on hells kitchen is the competition one. I'm thinking of Kitchen Nightmares

[-] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 13 points 11 months ago

Either way.

It's been proven he only overreacts like that on the American shows because Americans love rage bait

[-] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

American here, I hate the rage bait aspect of American shows.

[-] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

Same. Even though I catch myself falling for it sometimes.

It sucks living in a country that lives off knee jerk reactions 😮‍💨

I can't be in the room when my wife watches "reality" TV because I point out every time they make it obviously staged.

My favorite was when one show presented a couple who had just gotten together in person and the SAME WEEK someone "gets pregnant" and shows pregnancy tests. I pointed out there isn't any possible way to know after one week, she started to argue about how "some people just know" then stopped because there was still a positive pregnancy test on screen in her hand.

In quite a few shots you can see a clear, fresh line where a wedding ring would normally sit if they hadn't taken it off for filming.

My all time favorite is miraculously tucking and untucking shirts. They're so obvious, but easy to miss.

When in Rome...

[-] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

I so much prefer the UK version because he jokes around with people and talks to them like a normal person. On the US version it is all for drama and they are obsessed with people yelling and acting out.

[-] MsPenguinette@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

It’s fucking RAW!!! Shut it down

[-] casmael@startrek.website 4 points 11 months ago

Cut to Gordon lugging five huge trays of ice cream into the street and slamming it down in front of the assembled employees [muffled gasps]

[-] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

"it's fresh frozen chef!"

-that one guy who drove Gordon crazy

[-] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

"Is it locally sourced water?"

"It comes from a reservoir upstate."

"WHAT!?

[-] RickyRigatoni@lemmy.ml 8 points 11 months ago

did you see that now gordon is sponsoring shitty walmart frozen microwave dinners

[-] brbposting@sh.itjust.works 5 points 11 months ago

$6 frozen meals eh…

Ranging from terrible terrible mac & cheese to tasty chicken pot pie. Allegedly.

[-] CluckN@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Yeah crazy how the guy that ridiculed frozen meal consumers for being too lazy to cook now puts his name on a Walmart exclusive frozen lasagna.

[-] RickyRigatoni@lemmy.ml 1 points 11 months ago

Guess kitchen nightmares isn't making as much bank as it used to.

[-] AnalogyAddict@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

He hates it when fine dining tries to pass off frozen as fresh. $6 freezer meals clearly don't have the same bar to meet.

[-] creditCrazy@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Ok now do we have footage of him eating one of these.

[-] datelmd5sum@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

My recent hobby is making nice looking ice cubes. My SO doesn't appreciate at all how nice my energy drink + vodka looks now.

[-] adrian783@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

do you call them nice cubes

[-] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

How are you making your ice cubes? And are they fresh?

[-] datelmd5sum@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Boil the water and let it sit in room temperarure for a few hours. Freeze as slowly as possible, e.g. outside when it's only a few degrees below freezing.

[-] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Ooh, that is fancy! I assume that improves the clarity? Do you do fun shapes to?

[-] creditCrazy@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

I like my red bull shaken not sturd

[-] worldofbirths@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Hot take, pigs with lipstick ain't all that bad. You just need the right shade.

[-] Sanyanov@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Unpopular opinion: promoting scumbags, even as part of memes, actually makes them more accepted in society which proliferates the issue of terrible bosses because it seems like a viable role model.

If you can't behave like a normal human being, then please find therapist and don't make everyone's day worse. Anger control works and does wonders for everyone involved.

[-] RGB3x3@lemmy.world 20 points 11 months ago

He plays it up for the show. He's not actually like that.

Watch any of his non "hell's kitchen/nightmares" shows and he's quite sensible.

And even in kitchen nightmares, he goes to really big lengths to actually help these people get back on track. Sometimes, they don't realize how bad things are or get stubborn and need a kick in the pants to change.

[-] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

You have to watch the UK versions to see him act like a normal person.

[-] buzziebee@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

His travel thing was quite chill too. It was him going to different parts of the world, getting shown local delicacies and sourcing local produce, and having a cook-off with a local chef for local groups. It's mostly him chatting with fishermen, hunters, farmers, mushroom gatherers etc and it's quite charming.

[-] MargotRobbie@lemmy.world 19 points 11 months ago

Have you watched the British version Kitchen Nightmares? Ramsay is very pleasant and patient in it.

Part of it is the US version really plays up his reputation by using editing techniques to drum up the drama for viewership, part of it is that if you watch the show occasionally, some of the restaurants he tries to save in the US are genuinely disgusting and should have been shut down as health hazards.

[-] Riven@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 11 months ago

I was rewatching some of the earlier seasons and it's extra obvious he also intentionally pokes at them to get them to lash out before having the heart to heart moment to help them. It's fun/sad watching the episodes and then checking that one website to see what ended up happening with the restaurant.

[-] Sanyanov@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

I see, will try to check on UK versions!

Thank you and everyone else who replied for contextual info.

[-] Annoyed_Crabby 1 points 11 months ago

Nah, dude is actually very nasty in his early day, taking from his master's nastiness. Marco Pierre White once verbally abused Gordon so much to make him cry, but once both person grow old the nastiness slowly leave them, so the Gordon and Marco of now is actually a bit more pleasant, yet the legacy they and a lot of other chefs left for the industry is an abusive one.

[-] RedditWanderer@lemmy.world 12 points 11 months ago

It's only Ramsey's American shows that are like this. Says more about America than it does Ramsay. He's not a scumbag.

[-] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

I guarantee you the producers of the US version deliberately make it an anger fest. They think Americans want to see it

[-] samus12345@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

And ratings prove them right.

[-] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Sadly yes but they don't give us an option though.
